RE: OUT-OF-WORK UNION DUES
First and foremost, I hope that you are all keeping healthy, safe and practicing “social distancing”.
During these unprecedented times with the outbreak of COVID-19, I understand that some of you may be experiencing some undue hardship, especially with the interruption of construction work, i.e Argentia (West White Rose) and Muskrat Falls. These two projects in particular are working with a minimal essential crew, leaving most of you who worked on these projects laid off.
I am, at this time, informing you that because of the ongoing situation (and if you are laid off and dues are currently paid to March 31, 2020) you have the option to Self-Pay your Out-of-Work Union Dues, as per usual, or request a Withdrawal Card (waive your dues) until such time our province has been deemed safe to return to work by the Chief Medical Officer of Newfoundland and Labrador. This Withdrawal Card will not affect your current position on the Out-of-Work Board. For more information on Withdrawal Cards, please visit our website: https://teamsters855.ca/members/withdrawal-cards-faq/
Should you wish to request a Withdrawal Card, please send written notification via email or mail indicating:
YES, I wish to request a Withdrawal Card
OR
NO, I wish to continue paying Out-of-Work dues (if you are paying, please forward said dues in the form of cheque or money order to: Teamsters Local 855, 70 Mews Place, St. John’s, NL, A1B 4M3).
The decision is ultimately yours, trusting we are all doing our part during these trying times.
If you require further information, please do not hesitate to email us at email@teamstersL855.com or leave a message on our phone, as they are being monitored daily, 709-579-5706, Ext 201 or 202.
In Solidarity,
Richard Gill
President / Business Manager – Teamsters Union Local 855
